I know the idea of being present or mindful is hitting the shelves like a fad these days. But I have to say, that the age old experience is not just a hypothetical one.
In fact it's everything you really want.
It's like waking up every morning to a cosmic parade of fun unfolding before your eyes.
You can almost hear the leader shouting "here they come!" as you move through your day. Suddenly you notice everything around you is coming together. You see people dancing on the street (where you used to see people tripping) You see people kissing and laughing and smiling (where you used to see people lost on their phones or distracted).
You see a spotted brown dog walking down a dirt road to a farm house.
You watch a giant semi truck labeled "LOVE" cross the highway overpass at the precise moment you arrive.
You go through life seeing each and every touchpoint along the way.
Everything turns to gold.
That's how it is to live in the present moment.
Sounds pretty good huh?
It's everything lining up for you. (*just for you*)
With all your preferences and wishes and dreams mixed into one incredible life.
What is your experience with being present? Have you had a time when those old stories about who you are just melted away like hot butter on a pan, leaving you utterly in awe of your life, your body, the abundance and the richness of the apple in your hands or the breath in your lungs?
It really is all this easy.
Because what you want out of life is so much more simple than you think it is.
You want to really notice when you look into the eyes of another person. You want to see the specks of stardust in their eyes.
You don't want to be forming a list of 10 things you hate about them (or yourself).
Or don't you just want the kind of life where every day is like being at the grocery store and that perfect song comes over the speakers and you find yourself gushing at all the other shoppers, proclaiming loudly how incredibly beautiful the vegetables are and feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for all the choices you have?
That can be more of the time...most of the time...very very much of the time.
This worksheet is my take (from my own experience and counseling background) on The Work with Byron Katie (find here) and The Present Mother Workbook by Catherine Weiss (find here). You will love the treasure of information these women hold, I hope you check it out.
