A little cry, once a day, is a sacred, essential rhythm. Even the sky knows this truth. I join her from behind my window slightly open, and I can't quite tell tears and raindrops apart. Together we release our reasonable storehouse, which builds up over headlines and storylines, and we nourish ourselves into freshness. I need not hold back and I need not be quiet, just like the sky I can thunder if I choose.
Personal hygiene and wellness includes daily emotional awareness and caretaking. Consider a good cry akin to a bowel movement. Both are physiological processes. Both have essential functions to health. Tears signal the brain to switch out of fight or flight mode. (Which happens after a perceived threat occurs). If we don't allow our feelings in real time, we create artificial stress and reactivity. Similarly if we didn't poop every day... well, I think you get it. 💩
How often do you cry? If your answer is "way too little" (less than 2x a week) or "way too much" (more than 2x a day for long periods), you might benefit from increased emotional hygiene! My counseling services are just the perfect place to soften up dry spells which occur from shutting ourselves down. I also help clients who can't stop crying to discover what might be missing so their efforts are more effective.
I would be so honored to support and nurture your natural abilities in this area. Good emotional hygiene equals feeling good more often. And what is the point of life if not feeling good most the time? Email me today, I would love to work with you. Lorissa@thewellsessions.com
